Backpacking Serbia: A Journey Across heart of the balkans

As I stepped off the bus in Belgrade, Serbia, I couldn’t help but feel a rush of excitement. With a budget of just $15 a day, I was determined to experience the best of Serbian culture and explore the country from top to bottom. And, oh, what an adventure it was!

Day 1-3: Belgrade

I started my journey in Belgrade, “Ah, Belgrade, the vibrant capital of Serbia! As a backpacker, I was determined to experience the best of this city’s culture, nightlife, and cuisine without breaking the bank. I stayed in a hostel (€5 per night) in the heart of the city, and spent my days exploring the historic landmarks like the Kalemegdan Fortress and the Church of Saint Sava. I indulged in delicious street food like cevapi and burek (€3-5 per serving) and sipped on rakia (€2 per shot) at a local bar. By night, I danced the night away at clubs like Savamala and Barutana, where the energetic atmosphere and hot girls left me breathless. And, with public transportation (See below), I could get around the city easily and affordably. All in all, I experienced the best of Belgrade for just €15 per day – an unforgettable adventure that left me wanting more!”

Day 4-6: Novi Sad

Next, I headed to Novi Sad, a charming town in the north. I took a bus (€5) and arrived in the afternoon, just in time to explore the picturesque old town and visit the iconic Petrovaradin Fortress. I stayed in a guesthouse (€10 per night) and enjoyed traditional Serbian cuisine like gibanica and sarma (€5-7 per meal).

Day 7-9: Niš

From Novi Sad, I traveled to Niš, a city in southern Serbia. I took a bus (€10) and marveled at the stunning scenery along the way. In Niš, I visited the ancient Roman ruins and the Niš Fortress, and enjoyed the local nightlife with a few beers (€2-3 per pint).

Day 10-12: Kopaonik National Park

For a break from city life, I headed to Kopaonik National Park, a stunning mountain range in central Serbia. I took a bus (€10) and hiked through the beautiful trails, taking in the breathtaking views. I stayed in a mountain lodge (€15 per night) and enjoyed traditional Serbian cuisine.
